The course offers a mixture of written information, some interactive activities and quizzes as well as videos prepared by expert diabetes educators (nurses, dietitians, doctors, and psychologists) including some that show the personal stories of people living with Type 1 diabetes.
You will also be able to track your progress, find links to useful external resources, as well as read about other’s experiences and share your own.

You can undertake the whole course from beginning to end, covering all aspects of managing Type 1 diabetes or dip into the most relevant topics in each module that suit your needs.

By completing the full course you will receive a certificate of learning.
Everyone is unique and will manage their diabetes in different ways to suit their own needs and life circumstances. BERTIE diabetes is designed to support you in building your confidence and skills to do this. Of course, you can also reach out to your local diabetes teams for individualised care.

    Been Type 1 for 17 years, on the Libre 2 and recently offered a pump. In the process of choosing which one suits me best. Already carb counting but still lots to learn :0)

  3. Hi, type 1 for over 40 years with no complications but I believe it is important to keep learning. I still struggle with managing impact of exercise so I feel I need to go back over everything and try again.

  4. I’ve been T1 since I was 22, 30 years ago almost to the day!! The increased awareness and knowledge available since the mid 90s is fantastic and the professionals who have delivered this learning and course are terrific! The videos here are well done, concise and so helpful! Delighted to have completed this!!   5. Hi All. My name is Ciaran and I have been a type 1 diabetic for about 30 years. Use a Dexcom G7 but struggle a lot with giving the correct insulin amount to cover the carb intake. Ratio seems to change a lot. Hoping I can learn something from the courses available on this. Thanks for providing such a resource.

  6. I fell ill in 2011 when a gall stone released within my system and connected with my pancreas. No warning and sign of gall stone problems or never having pancreatitis. I am now a full diabetic due to Necrotic Pancreas.

  7. Hi, I’ve been an insulin dependant diabetic for over 35+ years and am still learning new things,I have in the past year had freestyle libre 2 which I love,here’s hoping I get a pump to save me injecting but must admit I’m a little afraid

  9. Hiya, I was diagnosed 25 years ago. I was given the Libre2 system about 3 weeks ago & we’re already planning on an Insulin pump after I receive and adjust to a new long acting insulin.
